Weekly Production Log 2

Weekly Production Log 2

In this week, We were assigned a task as a class to prepare a Music Video Pitch for our chosen Music video in order to present it to our peers. It would consist of 15 different slides, all of which included Artists Identity, Conventions, Visuals, Lyrics, Permission, Location, Casting and Crew, Elements from the Beach-combing activity and Target Audience which were all discussed as shown in the video Linked below where I presented my slide.

After explaining my Idea for my Music video to my peers, my audience was given a minute or so to discuss the ideas and afterwards, present me with feedback; criticisms, suggestions and good aspects about my Music Video pitch which I believe were very constructive and helpful as it allowed me to further develop my idea for a music video Ie I have now decided to use a Green screen in addition to the white background and also allowed me to think further about my Idea which I am now very confident about. The feedback alongside the pitch has been presented below and I believe it was very beneficial.

1. Discuss the Key Themes:
Style, Fashion, Lifestyle.

2.Who are the Intended primary audience?
The intended primary audience are those who enjoy this type of music which may be classed as Trap or Hip-Hop as well as the Younger generation so I would say those around the age of 14-24 which I believe would listen to this type of music with this type of style.

3.What meaning do the lyrics have?
I believe personality that the Lyrics bring across this message of Confidence and Self-awareness in the sense that the repetition of the phrase 'You know my style' leads me to think that the Rapper really does know himself and know who he is due to the fact that he keeps repeating this and also, this also reflects that he's quite aware due to the fact that he's the man and makes the audience much more eager to know his style or want to know what he's about.

4.Analyse the music itself. Does it suit the lyrics, What instruments are use/can be heard and what impact do they have?
Instrument used include; Bass Guitar, Symphony, Keyboard, Drum, Bass.
I do believe the music does suit the lyrics simply because throughout the Chorus, where the most predominate verse is 'You know my style', the beat is quite a consistent jingle which i genuinely believe goes with the theme as it gives me a kind of fashion kind of vibe and leads me to imagining which sort of lifestyle he lives through the imagery shown in the music video. For example, In the beginning, when the beat is playing softly through a keyboard, we see that this is where the rapper shows his flash car, a girl by his side and his 'style' whereas in the drops of the beat, we often see that this is where more of the rappers face and the people around him. The impact of the use of a mixture of a Keyboard and Symphony allows us to be able to understand the lifestyle of the rapper and get an insight into his lifestyle.

5.How will you apply it to your music video? What styles and techniques will i used and how will the lyrics have an impact on misc-en-scene, camera language and editing?

I would apply it to my music video because I believe that this song gives off a Fashion show and lifestyle vibe so I would apply it to my music videos by maybe showing different styles or different clothes which represent a particular type of lifestyle as well as showing fun as I believe that this video is therefore i would incorporate maybe a gathering of friends showing fun which may include showing different types of clothes or maybe a party scene which i believe would fit very well with the theme. In terms of styles and techniques, i would use various shots including Long Shots, Medium Long Shots, Close Ups which will enable us to further understand the song. Technique wise, I would use Slow Motion for when the beat is slower for when the fun is slow motion, a faster pace editing for where the beat is faster for example during the Chorus as well as close-ups of different people with different styles which would therefore be quite creative as well as a well lit room with quite happy and upbeat lighting.

Denotations and connotations of lyrics.

** Can't style at a nigga like me, 'cause I'll style on a nigga like, "you know my style"** : You can't stunt or be better than me because my style is better than yours.

**I was gonna cut, my nigga told me, "keep it pushing"** : I was going to give up however a friend told me to keep on going.
